Statement on the 23rd Street Shooting Incident:

I am aware and saddened by the unfortunate shooting incident that took place on 23rd Street last night. Our condolences go out to the affected families. We understand the concerns and fears such events can generate within our community.

The Richmond Police Department is actively investigating the incident, and we are committed to sharing updates as they become available. We encourage any witnesses or those with information to come forward to assist in the investigation by calling homicide detectives at 510-620-6616

What we know so far:

• One person was confirmed dead at the scene, and two others were transported to the hospital, where a second individual succumbed to their injuries.

• The incident was reported on the 900 block of 23rd Street.

• The police responded to the incident at approximately 7:46 p.m. due to a Shot Spotter activation

• Homicide detectives were on the scene late last night

• The specific cause or motive for the violence is unclear, and no arrests have been made
